Advanced Glassiber Yarns is a joint venture created in September, 1998 between majority owner Porcher Industries of France and Owens Corning,. AGY manufactures glass fiber yarns to industries requiring light-weight, inexpensive reinforcement of other materials. Sample applications include much of the interior of commercial jetliners and the integrated circuit boards of computers. Headquarters is located in Aiken, SC, with manufacturing plants in Aiken, Huntingdon PA and South Hill, VA. AGY also has an international Customer Service center in Lyons, France and an contract warehouse in Antwerp, Belgium.
Due to year-2000 issues with legacy Owens Corning mainframe systems, AGY converted ALL business and production systems in 1999 to Oracle. We run Oracle Financials 11.0.3, modules AP, AR and GL and OPM version 4.10.08, modules Order Fulfillment, Purchasing, Inventory, Costing and Production. We have interfaces to bar code scanners for warehouse and shipping, and an interface to bar code printers for production labeling.
The above systems run on a Sun Enterprise 3500 database server, Compaq Tru64 DS10 Financials application server, NT/Citrix OPM Application server and Windows 95/Jinitiator/Citrix client.
AGY intends to upgrade to Release 11i in 2002.
