Patch application and patch application strategy was the purview of the technical support team - namely the applications DBAs. In 11i, patching strategy is a business decision. Patching methodologies and their relative merits and risks must be explored along with impacts on technical and business teams.

Biography:
Mr. Stouffer and Ms. Hoekstra have presented papers and moderated panels at numerous local, regional, national and international conferences for Oracle Applications users and support staff including DOUG, FWOUG, HOUG, and SROAUG meetings, SCOAUG NWOUG, MAOP, OATS, and NCOAUG conferences, OAW and numerous OAUG conferences held in North America, Europe and Australia. Mr. Stouffer has over 16 years experience with Oracle database administration including more than 14 years supporting Oracle Applications environments including installation, implementations,ti upgrades and system reviews. Mr. Stouffer also taught the first Release 11 Installation and Administration training offered by Oracle Education and conducted a series of 2-day R11i workshops at OAUG in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Ms. Hoekstra has over 18 years experience with information technology and has been working with, implementing, upgrading, and supporting the Oracle Applications for more than 10 years.
