There are many techniques for replenishing inventory supported by Oracle applications. This report focuses on the applicability of kanban methods to the inventory management needs of both manufacturing and non-manufacturing organizations. Findings will be presented from a recent implementation of Oracle kanban replenishment at Acuity Lighting's Cochran Plant. Using Oracle applications to manage kanban replenishment greatly enhances an organization's ability to manage the replenishment process. Excepted benefits include reduced inventory, lower administrative costs, and higher services levels. Also discussed is a creative approach to kanban planning used to deal with periodic spikes in item demand.
