OAUG in Atlanta April 24-28

Conference will be held in our hometown! Brenda Carlton in conjunction with the Conference Committee has the following suggestions on how the local Atlanta GEO can assist with the conference.

  1. Badges or ribbons designating us as the Atlanta GEO group.
  2. An Atlanta GEO booth near the registration section or in the exhibit hall advertising our group. This serves two purposes. a) Serve as Welcome Ambassadors. Our Atlanta residents can answer questions about the local area and things to see/do. b) Advertise our group in order to get more members. We would man the booth on opening night and the first day of the conference.
  3. Reserved VIP seating near the front of the opening session. Don Payne to announce our presence during the General Session.
  4. Designated tables at lunches for GEO and SIGs with the Atlanta section larger and with advertisement.

Thus these ideas generate a need for the following volunteers.

  1. A sponsor to cover the cost of the badges
  2. One person to coordinate the volunteers for booth duty.
  3. Volunteers to work the booth on opening night and the first day of sessions.
  4. Would someone like to write a song or jingle for us to sing during the General Session?
  5. Marketing materials to hand out from the booth. Perhaps the flyer would advertise our group and give information about Atlanta. Perhaps include logos of the companies in our group. A volunteer to write the flyer plus pay the cost of producing.

Please send your ideas or volunteer to bcarlton@sprynet.com.

Suggestions to be Incorporated at Future Meetings

Based upon feedback received on the evaluations we will make the following changes.

  1. Start the meeting earlier to allow more time for networking. Networking time will be 8:30 – 9:15. Then all members can attend the Vendor Spotlight session at 9:15.
  2. A "mingling incentive" questionnaire will be used to encourage members to find other members that fit the various questions. i.e. Find a member using 11i GL, find a member using CRM, find a member just starting their project, etc. A door prize will be given to the member completing the most questions.
  3. A door prize to the company with the most attendees.

The following volunteers are needed based upon the suggestions made.

  1. Door prizes for the company with the most attendees and to the person winning the networking quiz.
  2. Person to write the networking questionnaire (spice it up!) for each meeting.
